Emotional Creativity / Creative Emotionality
We create from our bodies, our hearts, our minds, our emotions.
Welcome sweet soul to the first writing from me for this new to me, platform :)
I have a couple artists I am so inspired by who use this and have found it to be such a beautiful way to receive words and podcasts. I have been recording podcast musings since 2019 and have always been unsure why I’m doing it/what to do with them or why I create them, it was such a tender way for me to honour some of the thoughts and feelings I was having, and maybe that they could be helpful for some other sensitive, overthinker out there in the vastness.
Substack feels like a fun new way to explore that expression .. stay tuned for more … I can feel an episode brewin… Topics relating to creativity you are itchin’ to dive into? Let me know in the comments if something pops into your awareness.
For today, let’s sink into the inner landscape & creativity.
Our creative nature - is inherent as human beings.
We are creating every single day.
Why is it important to keep creating? We are expressive beings, we are made of energy. We desire to create and share. We desire to feel connection to our environment, as we are made and sustained by this earth.
Our connection is undeniable.
Some of my first memories are of wanting to be an artist, of wanting to make things and create beauty to share with the earth.
As a child I loved to write poems, and had a vivid imagination. Books were my escape, and the imagination loved to run rampant. I saw landscapes and places I had never been, and the desire to share these visions with others was and continues to be my driving force.
Throughout school art classes I felt like creating art was so much more powerful than what was being shared, I had the thought consistently “I feel like there is so much more to it than this.”
What I knew from a young age was that art was and is a powerful vehicle for healing and transformation, and taps us into our aliveness.
Art and creativity connects us to our spiritual path. Art and creativity connects us to our soul. The soul can feel illusive, can feel like a concept that is hard to grasp and mysterious. Yet when we feel into this idea of soul there is a deep knowing within us, something deeper than the surface.
It is the inner landscape that is endlessly fascinating to me. Each of us experiencing our lives uniquely, and yet our human aspect experiences the same emotions. We are truly never alone in our shame, our guilt, our sadness and anger. We all feel it.
Where emotions, thoughts and creativity meet is where I am endlessly curious about.
What is dancing in your internal landscape?
What images present themselves behind your eyes?
Where do we feel fear? And which part of us stops ourselves from creating?
Our relationship to fear can teach us so much about the choices we make. We can use our creative practice to develop a relationship with our fear, the places we are scared to go. We can feel so scared to even begin to create, and yet when we start to engage with a creative practice and breathe with the fear, we gain new perspectives.
Get curious about your inner landscape, spend time within, being in awe of your aliveness.
When we live in fear, when we live a routine that does not spark awe, joy or surprise we become desensitized. We begin to go on auto-pilot, our emotions become numb, our physical bodies become numb. It can feel safe here, but it can also feel joy-less, and we lose sight of what inspires us to grow and appreciate our life.
Creativity colours up our life.
Creativity breathes fresh life into us, it allows us to continue living with vitality.
The beautiful part of creativity is how customized this practice is. Every single human will express themselves in their own way. There is no right or wrong way, there is your way. Emotional Creativity / Creative Emotionality, we are all artists of some kind my dear.
